Global Village in Dubai is the ultimate destination for a whirlwind journey through cultures, flavors, and artisanal treasures from around the globe. With so much to explore, we turned to our expert team of food tour guides to get the lowdown on what they’d shop for at this year’s Global Village. Here’s your insider guide to making the most of your visit, complete with pavilion-specific gems and our personal favorites.
When it comes to stocking up on pantry staples, the Palestinian Pavilion is a must-visit. Both Farida and Ketki swear by the za’atar, sumac, olive oil, and figs soaked in olive oil — staples for any Middle Eastern pantry. Farida also recommends grilled olives and other mooneh (preserved foods) for their rich, authentic flavors. “The za’atar here is incredible. It’s fragrant and perfectly balanced, just the way I like it,” says Ketki.
The Thai Pavilion isn’t just about flavors; it’s a haven for comfortable and stylish finds. Farida raves about the loose pants and tops, perfect for breezy Dubai weather. “I always pick up a few pairs of these light and comfy pants. They’re a lifesaver in this heat!” she shares. She also recommends checking out the herbal eye masks and neck/back pillows at the Thai massage parlor located close to the entrance of Global Village.
Calling all beauty enthusiasts! Both Farida and Ketki are fans of the K-beauty products here. From skincare essentials to trendy cosmetics, this pavilion is your go-to for Korean beauty.
For anyone who loves to cook, true cinnamon and cardamom from Sri Lanka are unbeatable. Farida notes these are essential spices for aromatic dishes, so don’t leave without them! “You can actually smell how aromatic the cinnamon is,” she says.
The Japanese Pavilion offers a treasure trove of kitchenware that’s both practical and beautiful. Farida highlights their pretty bowls and tableware, perfect for hosting or gifting. “The craftsmanship on these bowls is stunning,” she says.
Noorin recommends stopping by the Yemeni Pavilion for their honey, renowned for its quality and rich flavor. “This honey is like liquid gold. It’s so rich and flavorful, it transforms anything you drizzle it on,” she explains.
Morocco’s offerings are both delicious and stylish. Noorin loves the cookies and the intricate tea sets, which make for excellent souvenirs or gifts. “The tea sets are absolutely beautiful and add a touch of Moroccan elegance to any gathering,” she says.
Looking for something unique? Noorin suggests picking up looban (frankincense) from Oman. “It’s such a calming scent and perfect for creating a serene atmosphere at home,” she shares.
Noorin’s pick from the European Pavilion is their ceramic tableware. If you’re a fan of rustic, artisanal vibes for your dining table, this is the place to browse. “Each piece feels like it has a story to tell — they’re so charming,” she says.
For chic outdoor dining essentials, head to the Turkish Pavilion. Noorin recommends their melamine plates and bowls, which are ideal for picnics or al fresco meals. “These plates are not only stylish but also super durable for outdoor gatherings,” she adds.
If you’re in the market for textiles, Noorin suggests checking out the tablecloths and bedspreads at the Indian Pavilion. These vibrant, high-quality pieces can add a pop of color and warmth to any space. “I love the intricate patterns — they brighten up any room instantly,” she says.
Kehkashan points out that the Egyptian Pavilion is a hotspot for evil eye jewelry and décor. “The designs here are so unique. They make great gifts or even statement pieces for your home,” she says.
Kehkashan also highly recommends visiting a shop called Stories of the Soil in the Pakistani Pavilion. They specialize in traditional art-based home décor, pottery, and camel skin lamps — stunning pieces that bring an authentic cultural touch to your home. “The craftsmanship is absolutely incredible. These pieces are truly one of a kind,” she says.
To make the most of your Global Village shopping experience, here are some handy tips:

- Shop around: Compare prices and quality across multiple stalls before making a purchase.
- Wait till the end of the season: Vendors often offer discounts as the season winds down.
- Check for authenticity: For specialty items like honey or spices, ask questions to ensure you’re getting the real deal.
